Team Medical is a family-focused, fully integrated family health centre on the Kapiti Coast in the Coastlands Mall, State Highway One, Paraparaumu. Our medical centre is purpose-built and equipped to the highest medical standards to provide  urgent care and general practice services.

Our Urgent Care Clinic is open late every day from 8am-10pm, including weekends and public holidays, for accidents, injuries, urgent medical matters and unexpected illnesses. You don't need an appointment for our urgent care services, just walk-in. All welcome, enrolled and non-enrolled patients. We are accredited for ACC and Urgent Care Standards. We have a fully equipped resuscitation unit and there are physiotherapy and full x-ray services on site.

Our General Practice(GP) services provide care for our enrolled patients with booked appointments, weekdays 8am - 5pm. We have a dedicated team of GPs & practice nurses are here to provide you with quality, patient-centred health care, and support around women's and men's health, child and youth health, long-term acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart conditions, minor fractures and trauma, terminal care, and minor surgery.

We have achieved a Cornerstone Accreditation through meeting ongoing legal and safety standards and continuous quality improvement. 

We are a COVID-19 Testing Station, all welcome

in Alert Level 1 our consults are in person and through phone or video. Phone 04 297 3000 to book appointments. To ensure everyone gets the help they need and keep you safe, we may screen  appointment requests which may involve calling you back with more details.

We’re providing our service in a new way to ensure you and your whanau remain safe through COVID-19. When you phone or visit the clinic we'll ask if you have any cough, cold, or flu-like symptoms or if you're concerned about COVID-19. This doesn't mean we think you have coronavirus, it's our part in helping keep our community safe and healthy. 

We're a Designated COVID-19 Testing Site

COVID-19 testing is free. Phone 04 297 3000 to arrange to be tested. We will ask you for:  Full name; Date of Birth; Address; Contact phone number; Details of the symptoms you are having (including their start date).

Our practice is safe to visit

Safety is our priority. We do COVID-19 testing in your car where possible or in an isolation room if an assessment is required. This means there's no additional risk to you when you visit for other medical issues. We have strict infection prevention standards in place.

Not enrolled but need an appointment? 

You can still get an appointment even if you are not enrolled with us e.g. if you’re a visitor to the region. Just phone our friendly team for a casual appointment.  Extra charges apply for casual appointments when you are not enrolled.

Urgent Care Hours

Open 7 days, 8am - 10pm including public holidays (Christmas Day 8am - 8pm)

For accidents, injuries, sudden illness and other urgent care services, no appointment needed just walk in. We welcome all our enrolled and casual patients and any visitors to the area.

GP Services Hours

Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm - some late evenings will be offered for booked appointments. We warmly welcome new enrolments

CSC - Community Services Card

Payment to be made at time of consultation. A billing fee of $5.00 will apply if not paid at time of consultation. Unpaid accounts will incur late payment fees and collection costs. Pricing effective 26 August 2020. Failure to attend a booked appointment without reasonable notice may incur a charge.

Good news, paying online is easy. 

You can pay securely using a credit or debit card or internet banking (Account2Account payments) - just click below to make a payment.  Payment is due on the day of your appointment. In addition to paying online you can pay in person at the centre with cash, eftpos and credit card.

  • Dr Yaj Chetty

    Dr Yaj Chetty

    Yaj joined the practice in December 2020 after running his own GP clinic in South Africa for a number of years.  He graduated in the UK from Glasgow University and completed his internship in Scotland before returning to South Africa.  After previously working in New Zealand a number of years ago, he is looking forward to assisting with the care of our patients in both GP clinics and Urgent Care.   Yaj speaks a number of languages and enjoys golf, running and looking forward to exploring the coast.

    Dr Beth McDonald

    Beth joined the team in December 2020 after working in a high needs practice in Hamilton for the last 7 years. Beth graduated from Otago University with post grad certificates in paediatrics and obstetrics and now compliments are current team of GPs.  The move to Kapiti has enabled Beth to support her passion about lifestyle change and is now able to explore this beautiful region and the outdoors.

    Emma Johnson - Medical Centre Manager

    Emma joined the team in September 2020 and has had previous experience managing teams within healthcare, hospitality and operations.  Being part of a large team Emma enjoys using her experience and skills needed to fulfil the role and being a good communicator and more importantly a good listener who loves working with people is vital for managing the practice.  Emma states "she is looking forward to helping Team Medical grow so that the community of Kapiti have the services they need to enable everyone to work together for their best health".  When Emma isn't busy in the practice, you will find her on the local golf courses or discovering the beauty of the Kapiti Coast.

    Dr Andrew Deans

    Dr Deans graduated from St George’s University of London in 2015 and did his foundation training in the Scottish Highlands. He and his wife moved to New Zealand in October 2017 and he has since worked in Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics and Urgent Care. He is an avid tramper and photographer, lover of craft beer and board games, and is passionate about family medicine and ensuring there is access to quality medical care in smaller communities.

  • Ruth Downs - Nurse Manager

    Ruth Downs - Nurse Manager

    Ruth has worked at Team Medical since 2007 initially as an Urgent Care Clinic nurse and more recently as Team Medical's Nurse Manager.

    Ruth loves the diversity of her job, which involves working behind a desk liaising with other health care professionals to change and implement new policies that will benefit the patient. Also working "on the shop floor" and being able to give patients a positive experience when they are unwell or hurting is deeply satisfying.

    Ruth's philosophy in nursing is based on treating the client as if they were a family member and giving the best care to everyone within the resources available.

    Dr Christine Coulter


    Dr Christine graduated from Otago in 1990, and following work in Christchurch, Hawera and Rotorua, became a GP in 1993, moving to the Coast to be near family. Dr Christine started Team Medical, in partnership with Dr Brent Krivan, in 2002. Dr Christine is a Member of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, and has qualifications in women's and children's health, and vasectomies, having trained under Dr Margaret Sparrow. Dr Christine and her husband enjoy being part of the Kapiti community and all the things the Coast have had to offer her and her family over the years, in particular mountain biking, running and kayak fishing.
